Ruud Heinen’s Spitfire, Builder #22

I have so far restored an original MK 9 Spitfire with 2 friends (Ruud Krens and Jaques van Egmond) from 1990 till 1994 and it is still flying in our Airforce Historical Flight (MK 732 or PH-OUQ)

Now, after restoring and flying many Stearman's it is now time for me to build a Spitfire for myself. A replica is affordable to build and fly, the real one is not, at least not for me as that is quite expensive as we all know.

I registered PH-RTH serial # 22 for my Spitfire and I have supplied the authorities with copies of the drawings.

I am all set to go and alongside Bart Burgers (builder #20) who has moved his Spitfire to the Netherlands, we will have two new Spitfires flying soon!

Bart Burger's Spitfire, Builder # 20

Progress on BART’s Spitfire has been epic, nearly all the airframe components are ready to receive their hardware and the firewall forward area has an engine mount and the engine too.

Bart is busy packing the whole shebang into 40’ container to a new build hanger in the Netherlands where the project will be completed. After a little delay we will bring you an update, I can reveal another SAW Spitfire build will be started in the Netherlands with builder number 22, Ruud Heinen.
