Spitfire Apple Mirror...SOLD SORRY!

A Supermarine Spitfire rear view "apple" mirror that was first used on MKVII's and then all subsequent MK's, prior to that they were an oblong shape. The body of the mirror is 4" and 1/16th in diameter and made of brass, as is the ring and backer that retains the glass. The backer has a spring loaded "star shaped" piece in the front to lock the glass forward into the ring and two brackets on its rear face that attach to the stalk secured to the top of the windscreen.

They came from the supplier in a satin black and were painted together with the camouflage scheme applicable to the theatre in which the aircraft was to serve.

This one has an almost faultless mirror, no browning on the edges, chips on the front or damage to the silvered rear surface, just a minor scratch on the glass that would most likely polish out.
